Today's toilets come with a wide range of benefits that dads will love.

From saving money to cutting back on toilet repairs, it's hard to go wrong with a new toilet as a gift. Read on to discover the royal treatment of a brand new porcelain throne!

Signs It's Time for a New Thronetoilet

Toilets can take a lot of damage before they start to show signs of wear and tear. But, all toilets will eventually need replacing. And there are some simple signs to look out for that dad's toilet needs an upgrade. The first and most obvious is if the toilet is leaking water.

Another sign a toilet needs replacing is the number of repairs. If the toilet has been acting up and dad has had to work on it often, it's a good sign that the toilet is on its last legs. Any small cracks on the bowl or the tank can also indicate that things are about to go wrong. Plus, the constant need to keep unclogging the toilet means that a new one is in order!

So Many Choices!

There are several different styles of toilets available these days. The old gravity-fed ones with a single flush option are still available today. These are easy to work on, and most dads are already familiar with them. However, the new models of these toilets often use less water than older models that remain in some homes. Depending on how old dad's existing toilet is, a basic new toilet could use half as much water per flush!

But there are other options available, too. One of the more popular styles is the dual-flush toilet. This has two different buttons that activate two different flushes. One is for liquid waste, and the other is for solid. The liquid waste button uses less water than the solid one. Not only that, but these toilets have wider trapways to prevent clogging. There are even pressure-assisted toilets that are a little more complex than traditional ones, but they use less water because they don't rely on gravity alone to flush!

Ensure the Throne Fits Before Buying

Before buying dad his new throne, make sure it will fit in the bathroom. Some bathrooms are built differently than others, so it's essential to ensure a proper fit. This is very easy to do: Simply measure the floor next to the toilet from the wall out to the middle of the bolts fastening the toilet to the floor. The most common distance between the two is 12-inches. This is important because it tells where the drain hole in the floor is located. Still, some bathrooms are designed smaller or larger, depending.

The last thing dad wants to do is install his own present! So the best thing to do is call a local plumbing company to install the toilet. A professional plumbing tech will make quick work of the job while dad gets some well-deserved relaxation time.
