3 Ways to Use Plumbing Decorations to Add Holiday Cheer
With the holidays quickly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about decorating your home. It’s fun to get out the lights, tinsel, lawn ornaments, and every trimming that goes with the most festive holiday all year long.
But what do you do with that unsightly pipe that runs in front of your deck to water the garden? What about water run-offs or other piping that might not fit into your beautiful holiday scene?
There are plenty of ways to incorporate even the plumbing in your festive holiday decor. Here are the top three ways to dress up your plumbing for the holidays.
Decorate Outdoor Plumbing
Stand in front of your house and take stock of which pipes might detract from your holiday décor. Visible piping that runs under your deck crawl space, or unsightly water spigots, can all become part of your Christmas display instead of taking away from it.
- Piping: Use wire and fabric holiday ribbon to create a candy cane effect by wrapping the entire portion of the exposed pipe. Choose your ribbon color according to the pipe you are wrapping. Red ribbon goes best with white pipes, but you can choose any color to match the rest of your holiday color scheme.
- Water Spigots: While these still need to be accessible, you can add them to your holiday décor easily. Use them as extra support for Mary or Joseph statues by anchoring the figures to the pipes. The statues will be seen and the pipes will not. You can also wrap your spigot similar to your water pipes.
Decorating Your Kitchen Faucet
During the holidays you’ll be spending a lot of time in the kitchen. So why not add some holiday cheer to this room too? Even the kitchen faucet can be included in the fun.
Here are some festive ways to dress up your kitchen plumbing:
- Lighting: Use a small strand of battery operated outdoor-safe Christmas lights and wrap it around your faucet. Ensure the battery pack is well away from any water that might spill or splash.
- Ribbon: Use wire and fabric ribbon to create a candy cane effect by wrapping it around your faucet. Tying a bow will also bring a festive look to your sink.
Add Christmas Spirit to Bathroom Plumbing
- Shower: Adding a festive shower curtain is a perfect way to incorporate holiday decorations to your bathroom. Using a brightly colored curtain will give your bathroom a bold and cheerful look. More muted tones will match farmhouse and country décor.
- Toilet: Add a cover to your toilet bowl lid and tank top to add an extra pop of color. Toilet mat sets usually come with a lid and tank cover, in addition to a floor mat. Bathroom mat sets add a bit of holiday whimsy to your guest or master bathroom.
